First of all I’ve never had a facial hair/beard specific product before, so I can’t compare it to anything. But I will compare it soon (not against a store brand). It smells nice. Shipping is not a deal breaker because I understand you are not in complete control of that. But I’m use to things being shipped in more timely and cost efficient manner. All in all 1st impression is good.

The Hydration Kit is something that have been needing, but didn't know it. One of my biggest struggles is retaining moisture. I've using this kit about 4 days now, and my moisture retention is like night and day. The process only takes a few minutes and the scent from moisturizer lasts me all day. The kit doubles as a facial cleanser and moisturizer so that's a big plus as well!

I have used a bunch of different beard care products and I have never been truly satisfied with the end result. The oil smell gets tired, or the balm is a little too greasy. The end result was my beard not feeling comfortable on my face and I entertained the idea of shaving it.
For Christmas, I was gifted the hydration kit which included the beard conditioner. Conditioner smelled great, but I was skeptical. After a few uses I was sold. My beard is noticeably softer, my skin is not dry, flaky, or itchy. My next purchase included beard oil. Also a quality item and I never grow tired of the scent.
I have ordered three times and I see myself continuing to do so.
There is not much white male representation in the reviews but I can say with confidence that Respected Roots works well for my beard type and I have mentioned it to my friends and barber.
